As the world's most successful boys' toy, Action Man (originally GI Joe) had a major impart on the design of 20th Century toys. The original idea was action figures appealing to a generation of boys whose fathers and uncles had recently fought in either World War II or the Korean War. As long as no-one called them 'dolls'.

The majority of toys are more dangerous than you realise. Not to your child’s immediate health, but to that of the Planet. 90% of new toys are made from petroleum-based plastic. One toy maker changing the nature of playtime is Woolkin. Thier oversized vehicles are made with NZ wool felt and sustainably sourced NZ Pine.
